Hunting for sport, Gen. 49:5-7

Why is his heart not in sync with his spirit?

He embraced me with a warm, comforting brotherly hug, he was relaxed and at ease, but something was wrong.  His heart was beating rapidly, pounding unnaturally, like the rapid heartbeat of a dying animal.  Yet there he was smiling, somehow unaware of this.  Perplexed, I pondered to myself “why is his heart is not in sync with his spirit?”

Why?

Because a bold spirit preaching courage,

is not in sync with a cruel heart with cursed anger (and cowardice).

How can one preach courage to young believers urging them to go out into the missionary field at risk of death or even to take a strong stand for the Word of God, yet his actions in his own personal life speak of cowardice?  Paul Washer hunts for sport, pleasure: the very epitome of cowardice.

Yes, the words in Paul Washer’s sermon are correct and the time has come to make a decision whom we should serve, God or our carnal nature.  Right on Paul.  BUT although the “doctrine” itself is sound, calling men “little girls” for blogging on FaceBook when you yourself “Twitter,” and denouncing other men as “cowards” when you yourself hunt for sport, the very epitome of cowardice, is just plain hypocrisy.

The time has come for Paul Washer and other preachers like him to make a choice:  Are you a man of God, or are you a carnal man, led by carnal motives and passions?

For neither you nor I nor any man or woman of God were called to hunt animals for SPORT, fun, recreation.

But a man of God who has a murderous heart, for thrill kill, baiting and murdering bears for pleasure, for sport, is a man with a spirit that is not in sync with his heart.

And not in sync with God’s heart.

The bible says a murderous heart cannot gain access into the kingdom of God.  No matter how many bibles smuggled into China, or souls won to the Lord, nor any other good works.

These are from this pastor’s very own words on his Twitter page.  But he is not the only man “of God” who’s heart is not in sync with his spirit, and hypocrisy is nothing new in the American Christian Church:

  1. Going bear hunting again tonight.  We are stalking around the oat fields to find a large boar.  I have only five hunting days left.2:17 PM Sep 12th from web
  2. So far, I have been blessed to harvest a bear and many geese.  Two days ago, I got within 25 yards of a big moose and 65 yards from an Elk.2:16 PM Sep 12th from web
  3. I have been in Canada for the last week. The Lord has given me a great time in the wilderness. The hunting trips have been amazing.2:14 PM Sep 12th from web
  4. It looks like the Lord has opened up many doors for us in Alberta. It is a privilege. Pray that I be sensitive to the Lord and the need.9:27 AM Sep 7th from web
  5. I have been in Alberta for three days and there have been many ministry opportunities. There is so much need and many who are hungry. Pray

Harvesting bears?

Blessing of God?

Hunting trips paid by ministry donations?

Baiting?

Are you kidding?

Let’s see what the Word of God has to say about maiming and killing animals for pleasure:

Scripture:
Genesis 49:5-7: “For in their anger they murdered men AND CRIPPLED OXEN JUST FOR SPORT.  A curse on their anger for it is fierce; a curse on their wrath, for it is cruel…”

OXEN “showr” שור appears 78 times in the bible and in every case it is referring to an ox, oxen, bullock,  with the exception of the King James version that masks this verse, as King James himself hunted for sport, in fact it was his “favorite sport.”

“CRIPPLED” from the original עקר `iqqar (Aramaic) which means to “lame,” or “cripple,” also translated as the verb “hamstring” which means to purposely make cripple, which pretty much means death to any animal.

“SPORT” from the original רצון  ‘ratsown’ which means ones own satisfaction, will, pleasure, delight, favour, goodwill, acceptance.

Do you think because it is a hobby of culture and that other pastors and other such carnal men who enjoy this sport, thrill, pleasure, make it right before God? Do you think because you lie and say you are killing bears for food will fly with anyone who has a God-given brain? Bears are predators, like lions and tigers and wolves and cougars, unclean meat, like dogs and cats; all of which are not even sanctioned by God to eat.   Then having the gall to compare yourself to King David?  Yes, David killed bears and lions, but only to defend his sheep, and HE USED HIS BARE HANDS.  If a wild animal  kills a human, sure hunt it down and kill it.  But to stalk and hunt a bear for pleasure?  For nothing?  And to call it a blessing?   There IS a difference between killing and MURDER.  Killing an animal for sport, pleasure is not killing, it IS MURDER. And the bible says that type of “sport” is rooted in ANGER, and that that anger is CRUEL and CURSED.

Well, if you choose to remain with your thinking, you do so at your own peril because the way a man thinks and the way God thinks are two different things.  It doesn’t matter what WE think, it matters what the Word of God says.  And the Word of God says that men who kill animals for sport, pleasure, do it because of their ANGER, and that anger is cursed because it is fierce, and worse, it is CURSED.

Next you’ll be touting you’re just “thinning down the herds” and “inconvenience” and “they’d die of starvation on their own anyway.”  Well, don’t you know these are exactly the same lame excuses  abortionists use to justify abortion?  POPULATION CONTROL, INCONVENIENCE,  INEVITABLE STARVATION.  Both incorrect solutions to dire situations brought on by MAN’S GREED and IRRESPONSIBILITY in the first place!  2 wrongs will NEVER make a right bro.

Hunting for food is a job; hunting for pleasure is a PRACTICE, a ritual, even if you DO eat the animal afterward as “your reward.”

After all, we don’t see men stalking cows to milk them now do we?  And why not?  Because we can buy milk at the store,  just like we can buy meat at the store.

Hunting for sport is thrill kill.

That’s PLAIN.

Biblically and every way.

Just ask Ted Nugent, at least he’s HONEST about it when he says about being a hunter, “you have to love to kill…”

But Ted Nugent is a carnal man.  He is not a man of the cloth.  And we are not discussing carnal men or ways of the world.  We are discussing YOU, a man of God, a preacher.  Or are we?

Man of God wake up!

MAN-UP & REPENT!

It Is Right To Expose False Teachers

False teachers are free to spread their poisonous doctrines today because there is a conspiracy of silence among many Bible believers.  Wolves in sheep’s clothing are thus enabled to ravage the flock, thereby destroying many.

John the Baptist called the Pharisees and Sadducees (the religious leaders of his day) “a generation of Vipers” (snakes) (Matt. 3:7). Today, he would be accused of being unloving, unkind, and unchristian.  [READ FULL ARTICLE HERE]

  1. I can’t think of any other christian vice that would bring more reproach upon this man (at least in my eyes) than hunting animals for the thrill of watching them die. The Bible speaks about people who are past or beyond feelings and while the original context where this appears in Ephesians didn’t have hunting in mind, it could be easily applied to people who partake in this heartless act! Shame on you Paul Washer! Get a Life! Shoot animals with a camera, not a gun!

  2. come on man. he eats them. ridiculous blog. only in the last 100 or so years was this not totally required to live. just because u can now have other people kill them for u then u can by them it makes him killing them himself to eat wrong? ridiculous

  3. I used to like Brother Paul and listens to all his sermons. I kinda think that his preaching and his life don’t seem to add up.

  4. Just because he hunts it does not mean he does not preach a true Gospel message. Examine your own heart and life before calling this man of God out. We have all fallen short, in many many ways.
